Mountain Bikes – Jamis
And when you thought that all good new bikes were 29ers (29’inch wheel bikes) the Jamis surprised with a very capable — per the reviews — bike. Here is a link to the review of one of the recent (2011) Jamis bikes
Jamis mountain bicycles vary in price quite a bit:
-
Jamis Dragon 29er Hardtail – can be had for $549! Amazing price for a very capable hardtail, frame geometry is excellent, components used in the model are actually very good (for the overall price) and overall this is an excellent choice for sub-$600 29er bike. The model most reviewed is a 2011;
- Jamis Dakota D29 Pro 29er Hardtail – which is in the upper range of prices — $3100! Well for this price you MUST expect a very nice bike indeed. I would have not considered it all but it comes as a good example of carbon technology and of course high-end components. The other very strong attribute of this model is the wide gear range.
- Jamis Dakota D29 Team: Here is the next generation of the Dakota D29…. For a whole lot more $$$…..The list price is now $5000! Well, do not exclaim yet. This is a professional bike. If you are riding in competitions and put premium on SPEED – this is the bike for you! Also, please note — this is a sub-22lb bike – i.e. another attribute showing its focus on speed and maneuvarability.
- Jamis XCT Pro – this one is a 27.5-inch bike which is also oriented to the competitive biker. The price tag $4800. If you do not want to spend this amount of hard earned cash, you may want to consider the Jamis XCT Comp which is significantly lower (but still very noticeable) $2800.
